See below some details about the world-class training facilities offered at PICAC and just some of the images which demonstrate our credntials as leaders in innovation, design and training to meet the future.
The water room caters for training across a broad range of specific areas of specialized plumbing including Thermostatic Mixing Valves(TMV), Backflow Prevention Devices, Rainwater Treatment, Greywater Treatment, and Pump Training.
The plant room houses the world class sustainability features of the Centre that make it a self sufficient built environment. Equipment includes a cogeneration plant, solar heating equipment and heating and cooling for the building.
Will enable PICAC to provide a visual experience on the various components that will be required to form a 6 star plumbing house.
It showcases rainfall collection, filtration and circulation, valves and clear piping along with clear labeling we can simulate rainfall and fixture operation also incorporating grey water reuse, highlighting new combination boiler for hydronic heating and domestic water with solar contribution and also the latest high efficiency tapware, fixtures and roof insulation.
With chilled beam technology. Medical gases training is available at PICAC.
The Centre for Excellence for Fire Service is currently being constructed to house the latest technology and provide training on fire services. Once complete, the training courses will also be available for the Melbourne Fire Brigade. A research and development project includes a new technology which removes sludge (present in the black steel pipe) used in fire testing, and prevents it from entering the storm-water system.
The gas room is a key feature of the Centre costing over half a million to construct excluding the great support from our industry partners such as Dux, Rheem and Bosch.
We are currently delivering Type A gas servicing and Type B Gas servicing training, Type B Gas servicing is a highly skilled and lucrative area with a diminishing occupational group particularly Baby Boomer retirements.
Both licensed and registered plumbing practitioners must be licensed in the specific area of plumbing work (Water Supply, Gasfitting, Sanitary, Roofing (Stormwater), Drainage, Mechanical Services, Fire Protection or Irrigation (Non-agricultural)) in order to carry out that type
Under Victorian regulatory requirements Licenses are available in six specialized classes of plumbing, including:
It also includes the construction, installation, servicing and maintenance of a steam boiler or thermal fluid heater of input less than 10 000 GJ/h that forms part of an integrated industrial process between the gas isolating valve adjacent to the appliance and any flue connection including the repair and replacement of gas components in that appliance.
Training in this hi-tech computer is delivered across basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office for all plumbers and apprentices leading to advanced training in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Hydraulic design.
