The Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission identified that over 70 per cent of energy savings on the domestic front and over 76 per cent in the construction and commercial industries is directly attributed to plumbing systems.

Plumbers have in their hands the ability to advocate energy and water saving devices and strategies to both domestic and commercial applications.

In commercial buildings the green house gas emissions are principally due to cooling (28 per cent), air handling (22 per cent), lighting (21 per cent) and heating (13 per cent). Therefore over 60 per cent fall under the watch of the plumber – industry will expect that the sector is able to provide the best advice and processes to comply with Government targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

In this drought stricken land there is enormous pressure on our scarce water supplies – that's when communication is the key to change. People in the city areas are doing everything possible to keep their gardens – and are more and more turning to tradespeople to dispel the myths and steer them in the right direction on water efficiency as well as cost efficiency.
